This sweet Gibson Custom Les Paul R9 has just been refretted with Jescar 57110 Stainless Steel frets. We corrected some humps in the fingerboard with the PLEK before installing the new frets and fitted a new bone nut, also cut on the PLEK. Plays like a dream. Made a little more progress on the EVH GL2T replica build this week. The faceplate is basically done at this point. The real Steinberger bodies were a lot more hollow inside but I think I’m going to leave a bit of wood up around where the neck tenon is set in for structural integrity. I’m starting to think I should have just done it as a neck-thru build, and I may end up needing to redesign this thing in the future. But for now I’m gonna roll with it! Next up is fret slots and board radiusing!
