Plek hat viele Bedeutungen für viele verschiedene Menschen. Wir stellen es uns gern als Frage vor: Wie können wir die bestmögliche Bespielbarkeit einer Gitarre erreichen? Diese Frage haben wir in eine Maschine verwandelt.

Plek ist auch eine Betrachtungsweise des Griffbretts, der Bünde, der Saiten Ihres Instruments. Es ist die Anwendung von jahrzehntelanger Forschung und Erfahrung und von Dialog mit Gitarrenbaumeistern.

Es ist eine Philosophie, eine Idee der Qualität und Bespielbarkeit, und nicht zuletzt, deren technische Anwendung.

Scanner

Der Plek Scanner, das neueste Produkt der Plek-Familie, ist ein laserbasiertes Messgerät für Gitarren, das in vielen Bereichen der Gitarrenherstellung, des Großhandels, des Vertriebs und der Reparatur eingesetzt werden kann. Wareneingangs- und Warenausgangskontrolle, Endmontage und Setup in der Produktion, Entwicklung und Aufnahme neuer Modelle, einfache Go/No-Go-Entscheidungen sowie Reklamationsmanagement sind nur einige der möglichen Anwendungsszenarien. Der Scanner ist auch ein ideales Werkzeug für Custom-Gitarrenbauer, die höchste Genauigkeit und Präzision in ihrer Arbeit anstreben.

Bei dieser Suhr waren die schwarzen Dots im dunklen Roasted-Maple-Hals mit den Jahren kaum noch sichtbar. Also raus damit und helle Perlmutt Dots rein. Dazu haben wir die Gitarre geplekt und einen neuen Knochensattel angefertigt.

Martin Vetterli has already had a few guitars modified by us to match his preferences.🙏

On this Suhr, the black dots had become almost invisible against the dark roasted maple neck over the years. So we replaced them with light mother-of-pearl dots. We also pleked the guitar and made a new bone nut.

My last job in the PLEK ever? Apparently not! It was supposed to be, but as it happens, I will now be keeping a PLEK machine rather than selling both and carrying on as usual offering refrets and PLEK setups into the future. I intend to broaden my offering too with some services aimed at builders, repairers, HSC students and the like. And expand my Neck-Only Refret and PLEK services. More on that as I build out my plan. In the meantime, I am now taking bookings again for PLEK setups and Refrets from November onwards. You can book a PLEK setup via our website or please contact me about getting a Refret. It is with great sadness that we are saying goodbye to our dear friend Darnell, who after 15 years of deliveries and friendship, is being moved to a different route today by UPS. Darnell is a hero to our neighborhood: he always comes in with a smile, a sunny disposition, and has always gone the extra mile to make sure our stuff makes it directly into our hands. We`ve always considered him to be part of our team, and looked forward to seeing him every day. We`re going to miss him immensely. Much love to you, friend! You`re the greatest! Godspeed!

One aspect of our job that we dread is beveling giant stainless steel frets during a refret. We try to work smarter, not harder, in almost every aspect of our shop, but there are some jobs we just have to muscle through. Maybe someday some AI powered robot will do this for us (and put us out of work), but not today.
