When all the parameters for processing have been set and checked, the machine is ready to start processing the instrument.

The process itself – what is actually done with the instrument – depends on the decisions and requirements of the guitar maker, and could be any of the following:

  • Fingerboard planing
  • Nutslot and surface cutting
  • Saddle cutting
  • Fretslot, nutpocket and saddleslot cutting
  • Fret dressing and crowning

With the optional final scan the processed instrument can be reviewed and documented.
